Selling or trading your car or watch: what to have ready

Drive Anything · October 13, 2026

Ferrari F430 in the Drive Anything showroom

Whether you're moving out of a car, a watch or both, a little preparation gets you a faster and firmer answer. This is what we ask every seller for.

For a car

  • The VIN and current mileage.
  • Title status. Do you hold the title, or is there a loan? If there's a lender, have the payoff amount and the lender's details ready.
  • Service records. Receipts, the last major service, tire and brake history. Records are one of the biggest drivers of value on a collector car.
  • Options and original paperwork. The window sticker or build sheet, both keys, books and any original parts you kept.
  • Honest photos. All four corners, the interior, the odometer, and close-ups of anything that isn't perfect. It saves surprises later.

For a watch

  • Brand, model and reference number. Usually found on the papers or between the lugs.
  • The set. Box, warranty card or certificate, booklets, tags and extra links.
  • Service history. When and where it was last serviced.
  • Clear photos. The dial, caseback, bracelet clasp and the papers.

Sell outright, trade or consign?

Selling outright is the fastest and simplest: we make you an offer and pay you directly. Trading lets you put the value of your car or watch toward something in our showroom. For watches, consigning can make sense when you're not in a hurry and want us to find the right buyer. Cars we buy outright or take in trade.

How it works with us
